Is What I do wrong?

Interestingly enough in the short time this blog has been up. I have received a surprising number of hate mail about what I am doing here. Obviously, from some gentleman and women who work in the industry. I don't respond to them. It's just starting a war neither of us will win.

So is it wrong that I do this? Not so long as free speech is still a right. I mean selling cars isn't exactly the most honest days work you can find out there itself. You ultimately make the most money on how crafty and dishonest you can be. The truth is that this blog is no different than writing a "how to" on installing a toilet or installing a stereo in your car. They are taking money out of someone's pocket somewhere down the line. You won't see the Plumber's Union or BestBuy employees threatening people online who write and sell these how tos though.

It's a dirty business. I had never worked in such a cut throat atmosphere in my life both internally and externally with the customer. I learned to live with it for a while but after a while it began to eat at my conscience. I left wanting to fight some fire with some fire. I suppose that is what happens when you give the person in the building with the most computer skills the secrets to the trade and send him out with a bad taste in his mouth. The car business is full of more ass kissers I have ever seen at any job. I am going to be quite honest to say my mouth has gotten me in more shit more than I can remember when I sold cars. I rarely ever held back and said what was wanted to be heard over what needed to be said. There was nothing I enjoyed more than outwitting a high school drop out I worked under and watching the look on his face as he second guessed himself and the rationale he was trying to present to me. I can't stand people who stumbled into the good life and that is a majority of who worked in the car business. It is one of the few industries where you can easily make a 6 figure income without a college education let alone a high school diploma. You get some years under your belt and about any of them will hire you. I didn't grow up like that. I was raised to earn my money, not swindle people out of it.

My conscience couldn't be more clear about what I am doing. Car sales is a field I am quite knowledgeable on and so is IT and computers. I am merely taking advantage of my knowledge and skills and applying them to free speech and enterprise. This blog is not going to put even the slightest dent in the industry's paycheck as a whole. We just might be taking a few boats and other toys out of a few driveways.
